Dear Alumni Ambassadors,

As the start of the academic year looms, we are looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2008--106 students from across the country. As we anticipate their arrival, we say goodbye to our first class of BSNExpress students who completed their 14-month course of study at the beginning of August. They represent 23 interesting and talented individuals who are thrilled to be starting their careers. Perhaps they are working in your organizations.

Enjoy the rest of you summer and thank you for your continued support of the College of Nursing!

Save the date!

Sunday, September 19th--  The College of Nursing will hold an information program for high school students starting at 1 p.m.  Call the College at 610.519.4900 for more information.

What's New at VU

Annual Distinguished Lecture. Mark your calendars for a thought-provoking 27th Annual Distinguished Lecture in Nursing to be held Tuesday, November 9, 2004, at 7:30 p.m. in the Villanova Room of  Connelly Center, following a 6:00 p.m. alumni reception. “Waltzing the Reaper” is a one-woman play performed by actress Judith Gantly-- a  powerfully moving and humorous look at the patient and caregiver journey through the dying process and the last opportunities to mend relationships.

Students continue to promote health to disenfranchised populations. BSNExpress students recently promoted health among Hispanic immigrants at the St. Agnes Nurses Center in West Chester, Pa., a clinic for individuals who do not have health care insurance. The eight students spent their clinical days at the center as part of four-week clinical option for their health promotion course.
