Dear Alumni Ambassadors, This summer has brought new mandatory CE
requirements for Pennsylvania RN relicensure. In June 2006, Pennsylvania
Gov. Edward G. Rendell signed the mandatory relicensure bill. So
Pennsylvania now joins New Jersey as one of the newest states to require CE
in order to renew a nursing license. Pennsylvania will stipulate 30 hours
each 2-year renewal period. Advanced practice nurses must fulfill other
requirements related to their licenses. Other states in the region of
Villanova University where CE is mandatory include Delaware, Massachusetts
and Ohio. |

12th Annual Health and Human Values Lecture Series. This year's theme is Profiles in Human Adversity where we exam the life of dystonia patients, HIV/AIDS in Africa, and the unique nursing experience in the throes of Hurricane Katrina.  On September 20, join us for the Philadelphia premier of the documentary Twisted, offered in conjunction with the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. The film highlights those with the neurological disorder dystonia, which affects 300,000 people in North America. A panel discussion follows the film.
Are you or your colleagues looking for a flexible way to exercise your expertise and teaching skills? Become part-time clinical faculty in our BSN program! The College seeks part-time med-surg nursing clinical instructors for the Fall 2006 semester and pediatric and med-surg clinical instructors for the Spring 2007 semester. Clinical days usually Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., but may vary with the specific course or setting. MSN required. Prior teaching experience preferred. Competitive salaries. BSN/MSN Gateway Program for RNs. If your colleagues are interested in earning a BSN and rolling into an MSN program, suggest the Gateway program. It values the experience of an RN and offers credit for it--a BSN student may only need to take 24 credits at Villanova. Plus there is a customized curriculum, many online courses, flexible scheduling and a 30% tuition reduction for those who are practicing RNs. There is also an easy transition into the MSN program. Ellen Tracy, B.S.N. ’81, M.S.N. ’97, director of the Oncology Program at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a fellow Alumni Ambassador in June received the Saint Thomas of Villanova Alumni Medal, the highest honor bestowed by the Villanova University Alumni Association. Ellen was recognized for her outstanding career in oncology nursing and the countless lives she has touched. Congratulations, Ellen!
Faculty positions. The College seeks a full-time nurse educator to teach undergraduate students pediatric nursing in the classroom and clinical area.
