Dear Alumni Ambassadors,

This fall brings us the opportunity to meet with prospective students at our Graduate Open House on October 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the Villanova Room of Connelly Center. At 5:00 p.m. attendees can hear from a student panel about life as a grad student here. Please let interested colleagues know about the event where they can learn more about our health care administration, nurse practitioner (adult, pediatric, geriatric), nurse anesthetist or nursing education programs.

We will also have speakers from our BSNExpress accelerated second degree program and BSN/MSN Gateway for RNs. We look forward to seeing your colleagues on October 17!

What's New at VU

12th Annual Health and Human Values Lecture Series.  This year's theme is Profiles in Human Adversity where we examine the life of dystonia patients, HIV/AIDS in Africa, and the unique nursing experience in the throes of Hurricane Katrina.

November 15 brings Stephen Lewis, United Nations Secretary-General's Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Africa, to campus for the 29th Annual Distinguished Lecture in Nursing. He is a passionate, compelling speaker who will address "Race Against Time: Finding Hope in AIDS-Ravaged Africa." Don't miss the 6:00 p.m. Alumni Reception in the President's Lounge of Connelly Center.

What's Happening with You

Are you or your colleagues looking for a flexible way to exercise your expertise and teaching skills? Become part-time clinical faculty in our BSN program!

The College seeks part-time pediatric and med-surg clinical instructors for the Spring 2007 semester. Clinical days usually Mondays and Wednesdays, 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., but may vary with the specific course or setting. MSN required. Prior teaching experience preferred. Competitive salaries. Nursing Administration Certification Review and Update. This 2-day review course in March follows the exam’s test content outline covering essential information for the nurse manager’s role. Perfect for those who want to prepare to take the ANCC’s basic certification exam in nursing administration. 

Congratulations

Kathy Gray-Siracusa, PhD, RN, MBA, CNAA, CCRN joined the faculty this fall as assistant professor. She is teaching medical-surgical nursing to undergraduates and health care administration topics to graduate students. Her career includes a clinical focus in critical care and nearly 20 years of management and administration experience.

Lesley Perry, PhD, RN joins the administrative team as associate dean and professor. She brings to Villanova a wealth of experience in educational administration spanning many years. Dr. Perry most recently was associate dean for Academic Affairs at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Nursing.

Career Opportunities

Faculty positions. The College seeks a full-time nurse educator to teach undergraduate students pediatric nursing in the classroom and clinical area. Candidate must have expertise in pediatric nursing plus research experience in this field. MSN, doctoral degree and practice experience in tertiary care setting required.
