Definition of Breast Cancer

dividing line

  • Breast cancer is a growth of abnormal cells that has developed in the external or internal structure of the breast. The growth of abnormal cells results in a tumor that can be classified as malignant or benign.

  • Benign tumors are not cancerous. They can usually be removed, and in most cases, they don't come back. The cells in benign tumors do not invade other tissues and do not spread to other parts of the body. Benign breast tumors are not a threat to life.

  • Malignant tumors are cancerous. The cancer cells grow and divide out of control. They can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs
